The Golden Hour
and the Master of San Jacopo a Mucciana

Flavio Gianassi is honoured to announce the loan of a painting by to the Master of San Jacopo a Mucciana to the exhibition The Golden Hour L’oro dal figurativo all’astrattismo, organised by ERSEL.

The exhibition, curated by Chiara Massimello, brings together 60 works in a journey dedicated to the evolution of gold in art.
Gold and light, an essential pairing. Golden light, at dawn or dusk, the "golden hour," warm and enveloping on the surface; almost dazzling during the day, reflected in a thousand flashes; soft in the evening, when, dim or by candlelight, it cloaks the works with an intimate sacredness.
In every era, gold has found its meaning: solemn and devotional, on gold backgrounds it is a symbol of eternity, strengthening the sense of space, transcending the supernatural. In contemporary times, it acquires a more conceptual meaning and perhaps, more than in any other era, becomes an allegory of luxury and preciousness
.

Distinguished by its measured composition, subtle chromatic harmonies, and delicately modulated figures, our panel exemplifies the synthesis of devotional function and aesthetic refinement that characterises Florentine painting of this period. Its presence within the exhibition allows for a deeper consideration of the role of gold as both a formal and spiritual element.
